Karen Laine Took A Tumble In ‘Good Bones,’ But Her Dream Renovation Is Still Alive

Fell through the floor!

Karen Laine did not suffer an illness, but when working on renovations on her Wilmington, North Carolina home, the HGTV star fell through the floor.

Key Takeaways

  • Karen Laine fell through the floor when pulling up the ‘rotten’ floors in her new space.
  • She was unharmed but had her work cut out while working on the house built in the 1900s.
  • They had to lift the house and rebuild the foundation to keep Karen’s dream home renovation alive.

During the newest episode of the Good Bones spinoff, Karen and her team were removing the damaged flooring in her new space when she unexpectedly fell through the floor.

However, when inquired about her condition, Karen replied that she was okay.

It became clear that Karen had a massive challenge ahead when renovating the house built in the 1900s.

She noted in a confessional that, having already fallen through the floor once, it was obvious that the entire flooring system needed to be replaced, along with the foundation, which needed an overhaul.

Sharing her renovation plan, Karen estimated it would cost around $30,000.

Moreover, she showed concern for spending so much of her savings on this house.

She even admitted that she could walk away, sell the house, and be ‘done.’

However, she resolved not to give up on her dream house renovation and pulled through the rest of the episode.

Karen and her team then held the house up with a jack, causing a brief panic when the beams wobbled, but the structure ultimately held.

After planning a bold and colorful mural for her home, she returned to Indianapolis, where her daughter was expecting a child.

However, while there, she learned of an approaching hurricane, but fortunately, the storm-proofing measures prevented prominent damage to the house keeping her dream renovation alive and healthy.

Karen later returned to Wilmington to check on the renovation before heading back to Indiana.

The rest of the renovation of Karen’s beach house is supposed to be shown in the next episode that airs on 28th August.

In Case You Didn’t Know

  • In 2007, Karen started the Indianapolis-based business Two Chicks and a Hammer with her daughter and Good Bones co-star, Mina Starsiak Hawk.
