Clarifying the Record: Taron Egerton and Joel Edgerton – No Familial Ties Exist

Though Taron Egerton was born in England, he considers himself Welsh.

Taron Egerton and Joel Edgerton are not blood brothers.

The Welsh star Taron Egerton was born on 10 November 1989, in Birkenhead, Cheshire, England, to Christine Pound (a social worker) and David Egerton (a musician who ran a bed-and-breakfast near Liverpool).

Whilst Joel Edgerton was born on June 23, 1974, in Blacktown, New South Wales, Australia, to Marianne Edgerton and Michael Edgerton (a talented actor and director).

Beyond the shadow of a doubt, Taron and Joel have completely different personalities and distinct bloodlines.

Joel Edgerton’s Only Blood-Related Brother Is Nash Edgerton

Joel’s mother is a Dutch immigrant who was born in The Hague, and her family is from Bodegraven-Reeuwijk and North Brabant. She moved to Australia in 1957.

Joel Edgerton‘s brother Nash Edgerton is an actor, director, stuntman, and filmmaker who was born on January 19, 1973, in Australia.

Joel’s brother Nash is a stunt god who was in Star Wars: Episode II—Attack of the Clones (2002) as the stunt double for Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi).

The Edgerton brothers have collaborated on several film projects.

Joel appeared in his brother Nash-directed music video for Ben Lee’s (Claire Danes’s then-boyfriend) 2002 single “Something Borrowed, Something Blue“.

His brother Nash is his best friend, and he has stopped him from choosing the wrong project a couple of times in a row.

When Joel was not working on any project for a while, his brother Nash directed him in ”The Square.” He said Nash’s greatest quality is being so organized, while Joel is the opposite of his brother.

Taron Egerton Considers Himself To Be Welsh

Egerton grew up in a working-class family; his parents are Liverpool natives. When his parents split, he moved with his mom to Wales. He was mostly raised solely by his mother.

Talking about his upbringing, he said,

My father was in my life, [but] not day-to-day in the home environment. So I guess I’m probably more what you would describe as feminine masculine than masculine masculine. But I like that about myself. I like that I’m hopefully quite empathetic and in touch with my feelings — probably a bit too in touch with them. But I had a great mum, she worked really bloody hard for me. And now we look after each other.”

This is why, though Taron Egerton was born in England, he considers himself Welsh. Interestingly, he is fluent in both Welsh and English.

His half-sisters, Mari and Rosie, are children from his mother’s remarriage.
