British climate commentator and moderator Elizabeth Rizzini, who works for BBC London, is perfectly fine as of this writing. Apparently, there’s no legitimate confirmation regarding her illness or disability.
However, her partner Frank has disability after being shot by a group of Al Qaeda gunmen. More on this in the section below.
One of the most recognizable faces in British weather broadcasting, Elizabeth, has previously worked as a weather news presenter at the Met Office.
She presents the weather across all platforms, whether regional, national, or international.
She has appeared in high-profile programs such as the 6 o’clock News, 5 Live Breakfast, Radio 4’s PM, and BBC World.
Elizabeth Rizzini and Frank Gardner (Journalist) met through their work at the BBC. Eventually, their professional interactions transformed into beautiful relationships.
Their only foundation of strong relationships is their mutual respect and admiration for each other’s careers.
It’s Elizabeth Rizzini’s Long-Time Partner Frank Gardner’s Who Has Disability
At 43, while Frank Gardner was filming with government minders and BBC cameraman Simon Cumbers in the Saudi capital Riyadh in June 2004, they were ambushed by a group of Al Qaeda gunmen.
In that tragic, horrible incident, Frank was shot six times at point-blank range and was left to die. Frank’s intestines were shot to pieces.
He was hovering unconsciously between his life and death. A few of the bullets sliced through the nerves that connect his spinal cord to his legs, which left him paralyzed from down his thighs.
After three weeks of careful observation, Farnk was airlifted back to the Royal London Hospital, where he spent the next four months.
Gardner found it hard to manage the nerve pain in his legs, which usually lasted five to ten seconds. He said, “It’s so painful I can hardly speak.”
Because of the stoma, Frank not only faced difficulty in his day-to-day life but also used to have severe pain as he was attached to a colostomy bag and catheter.
After this unfortunate incident, at one point in his life, he used to think he would never be able to walk, run, climb stairs, or dance again as he had to rely on a wheelchair.
In BBC’s documentary “Being Frank: The Frank Gardner Story,” which aired on BBC Two in November 2020, Frank exposes the things about disability he never talked about anywhere else.
Regarding this, he said,
Now, to all those curious minds out there searching for Elizabeth Rizzini’s disability and illness, well, she is fine and doing amazing.
In fact, just a day ago, she appeared on BBC Weather to forecast the weather.
