Kirstie Alley’s Parents Were Dressed As “the Odd Couple” When They Had A Car Crash

An old clip of Barbara Walters’ interview with Kirstie Alley from 1996 resurfaced, which has become the talk of the town.

The clips show a part where Barbara and Kirstie discuss the untimely dea*h of her mother.

The late actress Alley recalls sitting in the hospital’s waiting room, all sobbing, and asking her sister a few questions.

One of the questions she asked was, “What were they dressed as?” an inappropriate question to ask outside the emergency room.

However, her sister said that their parents were dressed as “the Odd Couple,” their mom was dressed as a Black girl, and their dad was a Ku Klux Klan member.

Following her sister’s response, Kirstie burst into laughter, and this wasn’t it. Their whole family started laughing at this piece of information.

And in the interview clip, Kirstie explained to Walters that this was “the greatest tribute to my mother.”

This made people curious about the couple who chose such a unique combination for their Halloween costumes.

Kirstie Alley’s parents were Robert Deal Alley and Lillian Maxine “Mickie” Alley (nee. Heaton). They tied the knot on October 28, 1945, in Wichita.

They were married for a good 36 years until the Halloween crash that claimed Mickie’s life in 1981.

Robert and Lillian welcomed two daughters, Collette Baughman and Kirstie Alley, and a son, Craig Alley, from their relationship.

More About The Accident That Took Mickie’s Life

The accident that took Kirstie’s mother, Mickie’s life, and left her father, Robert, with critical chest injuries was because of the reckless behavior of a woman named Cherie Glymph (then White).

Cherie, 27, worked at the Boeing aircraft plant. That day, she crashed into a car with a couple returning from a Halloween party inside.

She reportedly was going through a messy divorce and decided to go for a few drinks before heading home.

Glymph’s mistake ended up affecting several lives, including the demise of Mickie.

Cherrie Tried To Reach Out To Kirstie

Following the incident, Cherrie Glymph pleaded guilty and got a sentence of one year in country jail and rehab.

However, Kirstie tweeted that Glymph only spent three months behind bars.

Cherrie then tried to reach out to Kirstie to beg for forgiveness, an attempt refused by the actress. This incident was three years before the Star Trek II actress succumbed to colon cancer in December 2022.

I can understand why Kirstie doesn’t want to talk to me,” Cherrie said. “But if she changed her mind, I would tell Kirstie and her father how truly sorry I am for what happened that night and the pain that I caused them.”

Kirstie’s Father Also D*ed In 2023

The following year, after the Cheers star d*ed, her father, Robert Deal Alley, passed away on April 14, 2023.

Robert was born on November 6, 1923, to his parents, Clifford William and Anabelle Alley (nee Underwood).

A lifetime member of the Cosmopolitan Club in Wichita, Kirstie’s father also served in the NAVY in WWII.

Moreover, he owned Alley Wholesale Lumber Company for many years.
