At 33, Andrew Jury, groom of the first season of Married at First Sight (MASR) of the New Zealand series, passed away on Thursday, 27 June 2024.
Andrew, who liked calling himself a builder, entertainer, musician, and writer, was in custody at Mount Eden Corrections Facility in Auckland at his final moment, which is further confirmed by Andrew’s father, Roy Jury.
He took his final breath just hours before a scheduled court appearance. However, medical and emergency staff tried to save him before his demise.
Andrew’s father, Roy, was concerned about his youngest son’s mental state before the hearing, and as per Roy, his son told him that he was ‘struggling‘ in prison following his April 2 arrest in 2024.
Roy Jury said his family were “bewildered” and “deeply saddened” by his son’s death.
Court records show Jury was charged with unlawfully entering a building, assault with intent to injure, wilful damage, possession of an offensive weapon, and threatening behavior.
Mount Eden prison general manager Dion Paki announced the statement that the man passed away on the morning of Thursday, June 27, despite the efforts of medical and emergency staff to save him.
Police said, “The death is not being treated as suspicious and has been referred to the coroner.”
Following the news of Andrew’s demise, Warner Bros Discovery, the makers of MAFS New Zealand, expressed their ‘deepest condolences‘ to Andrew’s loved ones.
The builder’s MAFS co-stars Brett, Angel Renall, and Benjamin Blackwell also announced his death in a combined Instagram post on Sunday, June 30.
