On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, the world lost soul music icon Frankie Beverly. His family announced the news on his Instagram page.
Rest Easy Legend!!
The revered singer-songwriter, who led the band Frankie Beverly and Maze, was 77. Known for timeless hits like “Before I Let Go,” Beverly’s influence on the music industry is immeasurable.
Beverly, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, began his musical journey singing gospel as a young boy in his local church.
Raised in the East Germantown section of the city, he graduated from the now-closed Germantown High School.
As a teenager, Beverly formed The Blenders, a cappella doo-wop group influenced by acts like The Dells, The Moonglows, and The Del Vikings.
Although The Blenders had a brief run, Beverly’s passion for music only grew, eventually leading him to create Maze, the band that would define his career and earn him widespread acclaim for their smooth blend of soul and R&B.
Did Frank Beverly Have Cancer Or Any Illness?
As of now, the exact cause of his passing remains unknown. His family confirmed the sad news on Wednesday but refrained from sharing specific details about his passing.
Before his sad demise, Frankie wasn’t widely known to have any serious health issues.
In an interview earlier this year with BlackDoctor.org, he shared that he had dealt with some throat problems but clarified, “I’ve never had any cancer or anything like that.”
He emphasized his efforts to maintain good health, saying, “I try to stay out of messes and stay healthy. I really do take pride in what I’ve been given and do the best I can in that.”
