Massiah said he dove in to save the child while swimming with his family in their apartment pool.
Massiah, then a second-grader, recalled noticing the toddler’s open eyes and mouth before diving six feet down to pull him up by his arms.
After alerting his 9-year-old relative, Savannah, she encouraged him to act and helped bring the child to safety on the pool deck, where adults performed CPR.
