The 14-year-old skateboarding sensation Arisa Trew comes from a Japanese and Australian heritage.

Arisa Trew has been making headlines recently as the youngest Australian Olympic gold medal winner.

The Queenslander, who was only 14 years and 86 days old when securing her gold for Australia, has an incredible support system from her parents, Aiko and Simon Trew.

Immediately after the main event, Aiko and Simon Trew were interviewed by nine.com.au, where the overwhelmed parents expressed their disbelief and pride in their daughter.

An almost tearful Simon quoted,

That’s all we’ve ever, ever encouraged her to do, have friends and enjoy skating, surfing, everything.

Arisa is half-Australian and half-Japanese.

She gets the Australian half from her father, Simon, who is from Mosman, New South Wales, Australia.

Simon Trew is a commercial photographer based in the Gold Coast who primarily shoots sports (primarily skateboarding and surfing), wildlife, and landscapes in and around Australia.

Simon is also a surfer and scuba diver, as is natural for any Australian with an outdoorsy lifestyle.

Simon is also his daughter’s biggest fan and cheerleader, guiding her path to skateboarding success since she was 7.

Her Japanese half comes from her mother, Aiko, who was also in the stands cheering her daughter on the event of the 2024 Summer Olympics Women’s Park Skateboarding.

While not much public information is available on Aiko Trew, it is clear that she is also very much present in her life and an active supporter of her skateboarding career, as evidenced by the “GO ARISA” sign she was holding in the stands.

Her inactive Facebook account reveals that she, too, is a surfer.

As Arisa Trew continues to break records and set the bar higher for all aspiring skateboarders, we can’t help but feel optimistic about her future.

With incredibly supportive parents like Aiko and Simon Trew, fans worldwide can count on Arisa to reach new heights in competitive skateboarding.
